Rush Town Hall - Creation Story
Cornerstone and Dedication 1935-1936

On March 5, 1934, a special election was held to vote on the question "shall Rush raise $10,000 to build a Town Hall." Forty voted against and 160 for the proposal. At a special meeting of the Town Board called March 3, 1935, a preliminary cost of around $10,000 was given to the members. The building was constructed by the Works Project Administration at a cost of $50,000. The cornerstone was laid September 28, 1935 and the building was completed and ready for dedication and occupancy in early September 1936, less than a year later.
