If you’ve driven through town lately, you may have noticed some activity at the
house at 1911 Rush Scottsville Road—and we’re thrilled to share what’s going
on!
Thanks to a generous grant from the New York State Council on the Arts and matching non-taxpayer funds from the Town of Rush, the Rush Historical Society has officially begun repurposing the house. This project will transform the space into a welcoming home for the Rush History collections and community meeting room. The Rush history collections are currently housed in the History Room at Town Hall—where they’ve been difficult for the public to fully enjoy.
Once complete, the house will serve many exciting purposes including:
A display area for both permanent and rotating exhibits
A space for community meetings and presentations
A resource for local community group gatherings
A Welcome Center for new residents
And most importantly, a more accessible and inviting place to explore
and celebrate the rich history of Rush.
If all goes smoothly, we hope to open the house to the public this fall!
We’ll be looking for volunteers to help bring the property to life—from helping with the gardens to serving as docents to greet visitors and share our stories.
If you aren't already a member of RHS, we encourage you to join us today.
Mark your calendars for October 19th 2025!
Join us for The Rush Historical Society’s Annual Meeting at the Pavilion,
where you’ll get a sneak peek at our new state-of-the-art displays and learn more about our future plans for the house and the Rush Historical Society.
We can’t wait to welcome you in—and thank you for being part of this exciting
journey!
