Collection of Bells for Sale - Part of the Bicentennial Collection for sale
Collection of Bells for Sale - Part of the Bicentennial Collection for sale

In 1976, the United States celebrated the 200th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence with events large and small across the country. Today, that spirit lives on through a special collection donated to the Rush Historical Society.

Background: America’s Bicentennial

From 1975 to 1976, communities nationwide held commemorative events. National highlights included:

  • American Freedom Train — a coast-to-coast exhibit train showcasing U.S. history

  • Bicentennial Wagon Train — a reenactment of westward-settlement routes

  • Operation Sail — tall ships visiting major U.S. ports

About the Collection

Chuck Prinzi caught Bicentennial fever—and over the past 50 years collected memorabilia tied to America’s major anniversaries. He has generously donated this extensive collection to the Rush Historical Society.
